Stacey Sweet
Weekend
Inside Edition Co-Anchor
Award-winning
journalist Stacey Sweet joined INSIDE EDITION as
a correspondent last season directly from News 12
Long Island, where she served in many capacities
during her four-year stint. This season, Sweet
steps into her new role as co-anchor of the
weekend show, sharing that desk with veteran
sports broadcaster, Don Criqui.
Stacey went from general
assignment reporter, to special projects
correspondent, to medical correspondent/producer
at the Long Island cable news station, earning
the respect and admiration of her colleagues with
her outstanding reports which both informed and
touched people's lives.
Sweet's special three-part
series, "Fighting Back Against Breast
Cancer," won an award for Excellence in
Specialized Reporting 1996 from the Press Club of
Long Island. Her health reports earned the
Outstanding Health And Fitness Reporting 1995
Award from the International Chiropractor's
Association.
Stacey's other work at News
12 include a three-part series on the
"Resurgence of Heroin On Long Island,"
and a special seven-part series, "The Budget
Battle," which examined the effects of
budget cuts on Long Island life. On the medical
front, she produced a special report on
"Bone Marrow Transplants." Stacey also
reported on the crash of TWA Flight 800 and the
Long Island wildfires.
Her recent work at INSIDE
EDITION included a poignant and compelling
interview with a former Playboy Playmate with
AIDS, Rebekka Armstrong and a touching report on
a little-known affliction known as Body
Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), which causes normal
looking people to become obsessed with the
thought that they are ugly.
Stacey is a force on the
entertainment front as well and has done in-depth
interviews with Oprah's steady, Stedman Graham
and country sensation Deana Carter. The high
point of her coverage of the Academy Awards last
year was when Best Supporting Actor, Cuba Gooding
spun her into the air after showing her his
Oscar!
Stacey Sweet is a native of
Long Island, where she still resides, and
attended Hofstra University, where she studied
Speech Arts and Communications.
